1. Push Notifications

You may have noticed that when you first come to the Walker Health and Safety blog we ask if you would like to receive notifications. We do this because many of our readers find our blogs extremely helpful and as such we want to ensure that you don’t miss any of our posts. We are also aware however that some people want to know how we send these notifications and what information we need from you in order to do this.

Web push notifications are notifications that can be sent to a user via desktop web and mobile web. These are alert style messages that slide in at the top or bottom right hand corner of a desktop screen, depending on the operating system, or appear on a mobile device in a manner nearly identical to push notifications delivered from apps. Web push notifications are delivered on a user’s desktop or mobile screen anytime they have their browser open — regardless of whether or not the user is on the website.

How do web notifications work

Each browser, including Chrome, Safari and Firefox have their own notification delivery service. Chrome uses Google Cloud Messaging ( and now Firebase Cloud Messaging ), Safari uses Apple Push Notification Service ( APNS ) and Firefox uses MDN servers. When you subscirbe to notifications via this blog a Subscriber ID is generated. This is how our system sends the notification to your computer.

How do you opt out of notifications

We value our reader’s privacy, so if at any point you wish to stop receiving notifications from Walker Health and Safety blog you can opt out in two ways:

  1. To just opt out of notifications from our blog visit https://walkersafety.co.uk/. In the bottom right hand corner you will see a red bell. Click here and click unsubscribe
  2. To opt out of notifications from all sites open your browser click on the settings and find notifications you should then be able to switch off notifications.

2. Email notifications

We do have an email list which we send blog notifications to when new posts are published. This list of individuals have requested to opt in to receiving these emails and can opt out at any point within the emails which are sent to them. If you have any issues with this please contact us on info@walkersafety.co.uk.

We are a start-up business and came to Walker Health and Safety Services with little to no knowledge of what we needed to do ensure that our business maintained the highest standards of HSE. Emma guided us through the process and made recommendations which we implemented to ensure that we adhere to the higher of best practice and legal standards (at our request). We have been audited by two international customers who were unable to identify any shortcomings and requested sight of multiple documents all of which we were immediately able to provide. It was satisfying to be able to show that we took HSE seriously and were a well prepared and a professional organization. I definitely felt that Emma's services were money well spent and we value her advice which is always proportionate and sensible.

The Battery Box
As a voluntarily run recreation ground, with several sporting clubs, a social club and significant general amenity use by the public, the prospect of updating our inadequate H&S provision was daunting. Emma helped and guided us and, thankfully, told us to keep it simple but thorough. This gave us the encouragement we needed and knowing Emma was on hand as and when required was very reassuring. We would recommend her services to you: competent, professional, and understanding.

St George's Recreation Ground
Walker Health and Safety have helped us with getting our ISO 45001. Emma is very professional and helpful plus very friendly to work with. We get a lot of guidance and advice on improving our business system.

Portland Lighting Limited
It was a pleasure to work with Emma, she assisted in helping us get Chas up and running. Or should I say that she pretty much sorted it all for us, as we didn't know what we were doing. She was very knowledgeable, kind and helpful, and she brought biscuits! ;-) I would highly recommend this firm.

Vision Architecture
Emma was recommended to me to carry out a gap analysis of health and safety documentation and procedures for both our construction and joinery companies. I highly recommend Emma for her personable approach, thorough analysis and clear recommendations, quick turnaround, and patience with my many questions! No job seems to phase Emma and I will definitely be asking her for more help in the future!
